Walk and Bike to School
By Jocelyn Gallardo and Joy Patterson
Wednesday, October 7th, was International Walk and Bike to School Day. Walking and biking to school reduces air pollution on Earth and is also a really good step towards a healthy lifestyle. International Walk and Bike to School Day has been in place for 18 years in the USA, and 40 countries participate. Walking and biking is an active way to get to school and, as Jonathan Deleon says, “It is so much fun!”
If you walked or biked to school on the 7th, your name was entered into a raffle (put together by ASB and ASB Advisor Ms. Sanchez) for gift cards to places like Blenders in the Grass. Everyone has a chance to win. First, you get to walk to school with your friends, then you get a chance to get free money! So many people love back to school day! Also, you received a kid Z- Bar as a tasty snack and reward.
This event is a fun and active way to get to school. Staying fit is important for your health and jump starts your day. Participating is worth doing. On the way, to make this experience even better, many people walked with a friend or family member.
Walking and biking to school is both easy and fun, and in our opinions it should be done every day.
