Mom’s Pumpkin Bread Recipe

Everybody knows that fall is a time for pumpkin flavored everything. Some people may get a little annoyed with it, but it’s just part of the season. There are foods from pumpkin ice cream to pumpkin pancakes. Personally, my favorite is my family’s pumpkin bread recipe. Making this in the fall has been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. Many times, I’ve caught my family members sneaking into the kitchen at night to try to get the last bite. In hopes that you can enjoy this tasty treat as much as I do. Here’s the recipe for this fantastic bread:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz of canned pumpkin or 1 cup (overflowing)
  • 1 cup of oil
  • 3 cups of sugar (1 ½ brown + 1 ½ white)
  • 3 ½ cups of flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of nutmeg
  • ⅔ cup of water

Instructions:

  • Mix all ingredients into one bowl (how simple!) until batter is thick and creamy
  • Pour into pan until pan is ⅔ full
  • Bake at 325 degrees for one hour

Follow these steps and soon enough you’ll be eating your heart out!
