Canned Food Drive

By Charlie Hess

Starting on Tuesday, December 7th, and ending on Thursday, December 17, Santa Barbara Junior High had a food drive so they can donate it to the Unity Shoppe. The Unity Shoppe is an organization that collects donated food so they can deliver it to families that are unable to get the food by. Santa Barbara Junior High is helping because it is the Christmas season; the season of giving. Seventh grader Sam Torres says, “I’m glad I can help families during the holidays”.

The received items were:

  • Peanuts
  • Cereal
  • Dried rice
  • Beans
  • Tuna
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned vegetables

ASB students came and took the cans to be counted and donated cans on the last Thursday of collection. On Friday the 18th, the 7th and 8th grade classes that won were, Mrs. Partlow with 97 and Mr. Lashua with 60! So those classes won a pizza party, good job guys! So, if you donated then we give you a big thanks.
