Thursday, March 17, is Saint Patrick’s Day. Saint Patrick’s day is the celebration of Saint Patrick’s life and the heritage of Ireland. This man was a fifth-century missionary and is now the primary saint of Ireland. This day is commemorated by festivals, parades, and the wearing of green. It is customary to wear the color green and/or a shamrock. If you wear green or a shamrock, it is said that you will become invisible to leprechauns, therefore, you will not be pinched. Many people pinch you when you aren’t wearing green to remind you of this concept. Also, several religions that are restricted from drinking alcohol are allowed to drink on this day. This Irish day is nationally admired and respected by many. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
