Trick Or Treating In Montecito

By Lila Gibson

If you’ve ever been to Montecito during Halloween, you know how crazy it can get. From huge halloween parties to king size candy bars, it couldn’t get any better.

Montecito has been the place that I have been going to trick-or-treat for the past 3 years, and I can tell you, it’s a lot of fun! If you’re looking for a chance to get a large amount of candy, the Montecito-Cold Spring area is the place to go. But you have to get there early or you’ll miss out on the good candy. If you start at around 6, you can trick or treat throughout the Westmont circle and Chelam Way. You’ll have a lot of fun running into your friends, and getting tricked by the people who live there. That’s another good point on why going there is the best place. Everyone who lives there and hands out candy are really kind and enjoy having you go to their houses. They even set up elaborate pranks, so you can also get the ‘trick’ part of trick-or-treat. These pranks include jumping out and scary you, setting up decorations that will grab or fall on you, or chasing you. They will do anything to scare you.

Once you’ve gotten as much candy as you can carry, there is still more to do! If you’ve ever been trick or treating on Chelam you know what I’m talking about; The huge party that is thrown every year. Varying from a dance floor and haunted house to catered food, you should make sure to stop in. It’s a great way to end the night, having tons of fun with your family and friends!

Overall I think the Chelam-Westmont-Cold Spring area is one of the best spots to trick-or-treat. It’s a very friendly neighborhood, and it lets you spend time with your friends and family. I highly recommend going there this year if your looking to have a lot of fun.
