Alternate Halloween Ideas

By Lila Gibson and Chloe Buckley

If you’re not in the mood to go trick-or-treating, there are other alternate ideas that will still keep you in the Halloween spirit. If you can’t think of something and need a little help, here are some ideas to help keep you in the spirit this Halloween!

1.) Have a scary movie marathon: If you’re excited for Halloween, but don’t want to go out and get candy, cuddle up on the couch with some friends and popcorn and watch some scary movies. It can be a series of movies that are funny and not so scary, or it can be scary movies that make your Halloween just as fun as if you were going trick-or-treating

2.) Host a halloween party: If you don’t feel like going to a friends house, or going trick-or-treating why not bring the party to your house? If you still want to hang out with your friends but not leave the comfort of your home, throwing a party is a great alternative option. It’s also a great excuse to buy a huge amount of Halloween candy and treats, and just be crazy. You can play Halloween music and dance, or play fun Halloween games.

3.) Carve Pumpkins: Carving pumpkins is a fun way of staying in the Halloween spirit! Gather up any friends or family and come up with creative ways to carve pumpkins! If you and your family or friends are known for being competitive, it could be a good idea to have a pumpkin carving competition. See who can be most creative and put your artistic skills to the test!

4.) Sleep: If you’re just not in the spirit, that’s fine too! Just lay down and have a little nap this Halloween. If it’s difficult to get into the spirit and have a good time on Halloween, then just sleep! You can turn in early and have a good sleep on Halloween. Since Halloween’s on a school night this year it’s a good night to just sleep and not worry about being tired the next day.

It’s not a bad thing to not want to go out trick-or-treating this Halloween! Maybe one of these ideas will help you choose something else to make your night fun! Just remember to be safe this Halloween, whether you’re going trick-or-treating or staying inside. You never know what spooky creatures are lurking in the night. Happy Halloween!
