Best Cat Breeds to Adopt

If you are looking for a cat to adopt, may we suggest the best of the breeds. We have picked nine cats that could be just right for you. From fluffy and cuddly to energetic and playful, these cats can be your best friend.

The Ragdoll

The Ragdoll has crystal blue eyes. This semi-longhair is characterized by its distinct black and white coat. They live for 15 to 25 years on average and weigh from 8 to 20 pounds. These cats go limp when you pick them up, just like a ragdoll.

The Persian

The Persian has the fluffiest coat and has a round face with a short muzzle and can live up to 15 years. The Persian also has a very sturdy body, usually weighing 7 to 12 pounds. Queen Victoria had two Blue Persians.

The Exotic Shorthair

The Exotic Shorthair is bred to be a short-haired version of the Persian. It has a short dense coat that comes in various colors and patterns. This cat has been around for 65 years. They live to around the age of 15. Supposedly Garfield is an exotic shorthair, but a much more lazy one.

The Scottish Fold

The Scottish Fold is very unique because its ears are folded down towards the front of their head, giving them an owl like appearance. Scottish Fold kittens are born with out folded ears. They weigh 8 to 12 pounds and live for 9 to 12 years.

The Munchkin

The Munchkin, are characterized by their very short legs, surprisingly these cats are quite energetic. These cats are the shortest cats in the world. The first American Munchkin was a pregnant stray named Blackberry. They come in many different colors and prints.

The Somali cat

The Somali are orange long-haired cats. The bushy tail and orange fur make them look like a fox. They are usually 8 to 12 pounds, and live for 9 to 13 years. Their coat is smooth and long. These cats are very playful and enjoy being outside.

The Maine Coon

The Maine Coon is a huge cat. As adults, they can weigh up to 17 pounds and grow 3.3 ft long. This cat is also the world’s largest domesticated cat. Surprisingly, this cat’s fur is waterproof, so they enjoy swimming in water. The Maine Coon is like the cat version of a dog.

The Siamese  

The Siamese is originally from Thailand. Siamese are characterized with blue almond-shaped eyes, a triangular shaped head, large ears and an elongated, slender, muscular body. In Thai, Siamese means ‘moon diamond’. There are many myths and legends about this breed. For example, the tale of Siamese cats who were tasked with guarding rings that belonged to a princess. They put the rings on their tails, and their tails formed kinks to keep the rings from sliding off.

The Bengal

The Bengal has a similar print to exotic jungle cats such as leopards, ocelots, margays, and clouded leopards. These cats are especially playful and energetic. Their fur tends to be a bright orange to a light brown color and sometimes even white, which are called snow bengals.

These cats are sure to give you lots of company and happiness. As the cat gets older, you and your cat will create a strong, loving bond. So if you’re looking for a cuddly friend, adopt one of these cat breeds. These cats could be your best friend and companion!
