This was a great first week in the NBA! With wins and losses, it was an overall exciting first week. This was a great time for rookies to prove themselves worthy of being in the NBA and stars to regain a name for themselves in the league. Which rookies are going to create a name for themselves and which rookies will be cut and their careers will be forgotten forever?

The first pick in this year’s draft, Ben Simmons, is officially out for the rest of the season. He broke his foot in the 76ers 4th Preseason game and was ruled out by the Head Trainer, Kevin Johnson. Usually you expect the first pick in the draft to lead their team to playoffs or just a better record, but now that he’s out, the 76ers record has slipped to 0 – 4. This is not the season 76ers fans wanted, but he will be back next year, healthy and ready to go.

Brandon Ingram, the second draft pick, has already proved himself. He has almost become the leader of the Los Angeles Lakers and is soaring to being an All Star very quickly. He is averaging 6.7 points per game and has led his team to a 2 – 3 record which is pretty good for the Lakers. He is sure to be the Lakers star this year and for many years to come.

The third pick in this year’s draft, Jaylen Brown, is the biggest star out of the top 3 picks. He is averaging 10.6 points a game, which is incredible for a rookie. He has lead the Celtics to a 3 – 2 record and is predicted by ESPN and other sources to be the next LeBron James. Out of all these rookies, Jaylen Brown is the one to watch out for this season.

A lot of surprises have happened in this short week. With the record breaking Golden State Warriors losing their first game to the Spurs and the Lakers actually winning against the Rockets and Hawks, a lot of crazy stuff has gone on. If good teams are losing and bad teams are winning, what else is going to happen this year? Will the Lakers win the NBA Finals or will the Warriors miss the playoffs? Well, I guess we will have to find out.
