Super Bowl Outcome

By Bennett Van Donge

Sunday night was the craziest Super Bowl in recent history. It was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime ever. The Patriots came back by over 19 points in the 4th quarter to tie the game, and a 3rd year player showed up and practically won the game for the favored team. This Super Bowl was very exciting to watch as a football fan and a non football fan.

The New England Patriots won 34 – 28. Everyone expected them to win coming into the game, but slowly changed their opinion once the Atlanta Falcons began to dominate the game. The Falcons had 3 touchdowns in the first half, while the Patriots were missing extra points and throwing pick sixes in the first half.

Last night a lot of NFL records were broken. The New England Patriots joined the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers as being tied for the 2nd most Super Bowls ever won by a team with 5 titles. Tom Brady set 3 Super Bowl records last night. He became the NFL player to win the most Super Bowls with 5, most Super Bowl appearances by a player with 7, and the most Super Bowl MVP awards won with 4. Other people on the Patriots set records last night too. Bill Belichick also set the record for the most Super Bowls won by an NFL Head Coach by winning his fifth title. James White scored the most points in a Super Bowl game with 20.
