The Simpsons is an awesome show that was created on December 17, 1989. The show gained popularity quickly due to its quirky humor and lovable dysfunctional family. Throughout the years people all over the world continue to watch and enjoy the show, but some people look deeper into the episodes and find interesting hidden messages. The show has predicted many major things such as 9/11, Donald Trump’s Presidency, and even Ebola! Today we are going to cover some of the major eerie events that The Simpsons predicted so long ago.
9/11: In 1997, an episode came out called “The City of New York vs Homer Simpson.” In the episode, we see Lisa holding up a paper that says New York across the top and then states that tickets are $9. The paper has a background of the twin towers in the shape of an eleven. The complete cover states: New York 9 11. Coincidence or not?
Donald Trump: In the episode “Bart to the Future,” which originally aired in March 2000, we see a animated Donald Trump winning presidency, and causing problems in the office. Afterwards, Lisa becomes first women president and claims that they are in bankruptcy because of President Trump. Seventeen years later Donald Trump became president and is beginning to cause some controversial problems.
Ebola: In a episode called “Lisa’s Sax” that aired in October 19, 1997, Marge Simpson asks Bart if he wants to read a book to cure his bad mood. She then holds up a book titled Curious George and the Ebola Virus. Some people think this was foreshadowing the intense uproar about the virus back in 2014. Poor Curious George.
Superbowl 51: Just recently was Superbowl 51. The Halftime show with Lady Gaga was amazing, but an episode back in 2012 predicted everything. In the episode “Lisa Goes Gaga,” we see a tall, sparkly Lady Gaga performing the Pepsi Halftime Show. The eerie part? Just like the actual Gaga, the fake was attached to wires, swinging over the audience just like the real performance! They also shared some of the same dance moves!
The Simpsons have predicted many more events. These including: Deformed Vegetables in Japan, the 2012 Voting Scandal, Facetime, and the Horse Meat scandal. These eerie predictions may just be a coincidence, but some are almost too accurate! What do you think? I know I can’t wait to see what they predict next!
