Kings and Pelicans Trade

By Bennett Van Donge

On Monday morning, February 20, DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi were traded from the Sacramento Kings to the New Orleans Pelicans. DeMarcus is the best center in the NBA and was not expected to leave the Kings at all this season. The Kings even came out last week and said, “Do not try to make any offers for DeMarcus, we will not be trading him no matter what the offer is.” But, after being ejected from 19 games this season, this changed. This is a big surprise in the basketball world.

With DeMarcus and Omri now on the Pelicans with Anthony Davis, the NBA’s best power forward, the Pelicans will for sure make the playoffs this year even though they are the 11th seed right now. The Pelicans were never a good team, but that is going to change once these two new superstars get comfortable on this brand new team.

The players that got traded to Sacramento from the Pelicans are Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, and two 2017 draft picks. If this new Pelicans team can work together, they will do some serious damage on the court in the upcoming seasons.
