Cliff jumping is a popular sport around the world. But behind the fun cliff jumping is one of the most dangerous sports. Dozens of people die each year due to rocks sticking out and not depth checking. Depth checking is when you go into the water first to check if the water is deep enough to not touch the ocean/lake floor after the jump. But there is a dangerous side to cliff Jumping. Jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most popular suicide spots in the world. There has been about 1600 deaths off the Golden Gate Bridge since its opening in 1937. If the cliff you jump off is more than 75 feet it’s like jumping onto concrete, and your feet sting a lot. People cliff jump for the thrill and adrenaline and I have to say it is pretty fun but the only time I do it is when the water is deeper than 15 feet. The highest cliff ever jumped off into water is 60 metres or around 180 feet. The basic gist is that cliff jumping although fun is very dangerous, and you should always be very cautious.
