Have any of you guys wondered, “Why is Halloween scary?” Or “Why do we dress up as monsters for Halloween?” Well, I’m here to tell you why. It all started in the 1st century, with the people of the Celtic Religion, who originated in early Europe. They believed that at the end of summer and the beginning of autumn, that the barrier between our world and the spirit world, would break, allowing all the spirits to pass through the barrier and enter our world. This was called Samhain. In order to scare away the ghosts and spirits, they would wear scary “costumes”, or dress up as monsters. Although the traditions have changed, we still celebrate it in some ways, such as dressing up as monsters!
So that’s why Halloween is scary!
