Meeting Brad Pitt!

Article By: Sophia Mills Interview By: Sophia Mills and Beatrize Southern

The crowd waited in anticipation, and they were not disappointed. Brad Pitt emerged and he took time with all the fans as well as the press. It was an honor being able to interview him. Brad Pitt was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma but quickly moved to Springfield, Missouri. When asked if he always wanted to act as a career he said where he grew up (Missouri) there wasn’t really a possibility. It wasn’t until he was attending the University of Missouri when he realized he could move out to California and give it a try. So that’s what he did.

He took acting classes and began his acting career in 1987 with minor roles that slowly increased into large roles. When asked what advice he could give to someone wanting to become an actor he said, “It’s really practicing your craft, by that I mean find a really good coach and just keep on practicing because you have to fail several times before you start getting comfortable in front of the camera and being able to listen to the people. It’s all about listening.” Brad says he really wants to do a comedy next, he loves those types of movies. For Brad, the most exciting part about being an actor and being on all these films the stories that he gets to tell and the people that he gets to work with, “Just a bunch of really intelligent, fun and inquisitive people I learn a lot from and that’s probably what I appreciate the most.”

Recently Pitt starred as Cliff Booth in the Quentin Tarantino movie Once Upon A Time in Hollywood based on the Manson family murders. He received awards for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, and nominations at the Academy Awards and BAFTA Awards thanks to that film. He says that the biggest challenge about taking on this role is that they tell a lot of stories on set so the biggest challenge was getting a shot done, he said, “We have a lot of laughs”

We ended on a fun question which was if he was going to give us one homework assignment what would it be, he replied with, “I’m going to set you free, I’m going to let you guys go play!” It was amazing being able to meet Brad Pitt and interview him, we hope to meet more amazing people next year!
